A development and manufacturing company specialising in unique and niche markets. The product range was limited to cold chain management transportation containers and electronic temperature monitoring devices for use in a variety of specialised cold chain environments. A number of other products were in developmental stages. The company was initially established to augment the specialised blood transportation operations of Bloodline (Pty) Ltd – a subsidiary company of Ambusave (Pty) Ltd.

NATIONAL LOGISTICS MANAGER | EMERGENCY ROOM COMPANY PTY(LTD) – ER24

December 2002 – January 2004

In December of 2002 the ambulance component of Ambusave was sold to ER24 whilst Ambusave retained the blood transportation and training academy.

I was precluded from continuing my employment at Ambusave due to a restraint of trade in the sales agreement and was recruited by ER24 to continue managing the ambulance operation as a branch manager. Within three months of moving to ER24 I was offered the position of National Logistics Manager. I continued my employment at ER24 as the National Logistics Manager until December of 2003 when I resigned to return to Ambusave. The restraint of trade expired which allowed me to return as General Manager and Training Academy Principal at Ambusave.

GENERAL MANAGER | AMBUSAVE PTY(LTD) – ER24

September 2000 – December 2002

Positions Held – General Manager, Operations Manager, Advanced Life Support Paramedic, Training Academy Principal.

When I started with Ambusave my chief function was to provide Advanced Life Support and to grow the business. We achieved phenomenal growth and within the first two tears had grown the business from operating two ambulances to operating six advanced life support / ICU ambulances in Gauteng; this was despite competing with ambulance companies that had been established within our operational area for many years.

It was in the course of my employment at Ambusave that we embarked on additional businesses within the company which included the establishment of an Ambulance training academy as well as emergency blood transportation for hospitals in our operational area.

PARAMEDIC | LONDON (UNITED KINGDOM)

1997-1999

In 1997 I resigned from the JHB EMS to work and travel abroad.

I worked for Southern Counties Ambulance Services initially and then for Harley Street Ambulance – the premiere private ambulance service in London. I was exposed to a very different market to the South African EMS and essentially travelled throughout England, Scotland and Wales transferring critically ill patients. I was also exposed to many dignitaries who travelled to England for emergency care.

In 1999 my working holiday Visa expired and I returned to South Africa.

PLATOON COMMANDER| JOHANESBURG EMERGENCY SERVICES

December 2002 – May 1997

I joined the Johannesburg Emergency Management Services in 1992 (Dec) immediately after completing my studies in emergency care. I was assigned to the Soweto / JHB South Operational division.

During the course of my employment I was expected to assist Ambulance Officers with the day to day management of the operational base as well as provide training and development for existing staff over and above my assumed responsibility of emergency care provision for the residents of Soweto, Lenasia, Eldorado Park and the rest of the Southern Operational Division of the JHB EMS.

I was also afforded the opportunity of being an acting station commander for a period of six months before accepting a transfer to the JHB EMS northern operations. I was then based at Fairview Fire Station and promoted to Platoon Commander.

Before leaving the EMS in 1997 to travel and work abroad I spent some time working the in the JHB EMS command / control centre as the regional dispatcher for the Southern Operational Division.
